~…Her beauty is revered by men and envied by women all over the country. She is often the subject of many conversations. Men would fall over themselves to court her and women would spitefully speak of her as "THAT dancer".
A day would not pass without extravagant gifts being delivered to her apartment. Many rich Noblemen and even Royalty have tried to court her but the exquisitely beautiful Miss Mimi is out of reach.

She had vowed as a young girl that she would not be treated as her mother had been.
You see, Mimi was born out of wedlock, her father a rich Nobleman who had courted her mother. They were an attractive couple, invited to all the important social gatherings and decadent parties all over Paris. They were very much in love.....or.....so her mother had thought.
But when she had fainted into her lovers arms while taking a walk one day, he insisted a doctor be summonsed. That was the day her mothers life had changed. For it was diagnosed that she was with child. Her lover had insisted that it was him or the child.

And so it was that Mimi Fouchard was born into this world and her mother had been erased from it. Those she thought were friends had suddenly become "unavailable" to her. Her notes and letters were returned unopened and she suddenly found herself very much alone and very poor.

Mimi would often be told bedtime stories of times when her mother was invited to parties and important homes. She would imagine the beautiful gowns and jewellery her mother would describe to her. Of the beautiful happy people dancing at lavish parties where the tables would groan under the weight of food. Of glittering nights at the opera and of riding in horse drawn buggies through the park every Sunday.

But whenever Mimi would ask about her father, her mother would hush her and tell her to go to sleep.

It was on her mothers deathbed bought on by consumption that her mother had finally confided in her. Mimi was just fourteen.

And so it was that she had vowed that people would remember her mother again. Mimi's greatest love was to dance and it was on the day of her mothers’ burial that she had gone to the Moulin Rouge and camped out at the stage door all that night till she was woken by stage manager arriving for work.
She had begged and cajoled her way into him giving her a chance to show him she could dance.

The rest is history.

Now as she sits in her dressing room as she readies herself for opening night of yet another sell-out show, the house packed to the rafters, her thoughts are back with her mother.

"See mother.....they remember you now. Because I am the daughter of Sophia Fouchard, the one they all chose to forget, the one they rejected.
Now they all want me at their parties and it is I that rejects them......why.......because I am the daughter of Sophia Fouchard, I am The Delectable Miss Mimi" ..…~

lol - you did it again! :worship: Though exquisitely manipped, the image itself I might have passed by (...personal taste, nothing to do with your workmanship, of course). But your story has sucked me in and enhanced the image as well, so that I couldn't resist adding it to my collection of Amazing Karla Art :deviation: It is a rare gift you have, little missy... be sure to always use it for good, not evil... :giggle:

Another awesome original work, I don't know how you do it but whatever you turn your hand to they come out amazing and your on top form with the story too, very emotional with a tinge of sadness! Another Karla masterpiece! :deviation:

Beautiful, it goes so well with the story, amazing portrayal of it - and both equally interesting. Great work on it once more, it is always so nice to see this much creativity, not only in an image, but in beautifully put words like that.
