~...It was a warm summer afternoon in a little cafe' on Rue Desaix called Petite Grenouille, a place not far from Véronique' apartment where she would enjoy an afternoon coffee with the wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower reaching up into the summer sky a few blocks away.
The waitress had come to her table asking if she wanted a refill and as she looked up to decline the offer, she saw him. He was wearing a smokey grey, double breasted Armani suit and even though it was a warm afternoon he looked comfortably cool with an almost cavalier disregard to the heat as he sat cross legged at his little table stirring his Café Noisette. He was oblivious to her scrutiny as her table was obscured to his vision by a bower of climbing roses. Sweet smelling soft pink roses many of which were still buds. Initially she had felt rude staring at him but since her presence was protected by the bower she brushed that momentary guilt aside and continued to study this handsome man's features hopefully, undetected. His hair was a rich chestnut brown, the sunlight sliding in under the awning where he was sitting, casting a rich glow on his neatly cut wavy hair. From within her shadows Véronique could see that his eyes were a jade green so intense that when he look up as the waitress passed, it made her catch her breath suddenly at the intensity of them. He was an incredibly handsome man who obviously looked after himself. His chiseled features and dreamy eyes sent her into a daydream, thinking...who is this handsome, well dressed, muscular man with strong hands and rogueish looks. It was in the middle of this daydream that the waitress passing her table had clipped the edge of her table with her hip causing Véronique's elbow resting on the table to slip, spilling coffee all over her lap. She jumped up more in fright at the sudden movement rather than in pain as she had been daydreaming so long that her own coffee had gone almost cold in its cup. The waitress was remorseful, apologising profusely over and over as she dabbed away at her coffee stained skirt with her napkin. She assured the young girl that she was ok and that no harm was done that couldn't be fixed as she fumbled in her wallet to pay for her coffee so she could make a hasty exit. The young girl responded by saying the coffee was on the house and as Véronique turned to walk away amidst her continuing apologies she walked straight into the handsome stranger who had made his way to her table to berate the waitress for her clumsiness. Véronique was standing almost chest to chest with the stranger. The fresh clean smell of his cologne assailing her nostrils sending a heady sensation through her as she looked up into his beautiful eyes. He asked if he could be of assistance and she shook her head almost not being able to speak but managed to mutter something almost inaudible that she was ok and excused herself as she passed him to dash out onto the footpath in hasty retreat to get home and clean herself up. That was three weeks ago and since that day, every afternoon a single red rose was delivered to her apartment. No names...no notes...no return address. When her attempts to cajole the name of the sender from the florist she was politely refused this information and told that it was policy not to give out this information. This afternoon, just like all the others, another rose arrived but this time there was a note attached. " To the Rose behind the rose bushes.....be ready at 10pm" And now as she redies herself for this special night letting the warm scented water gently perfume her sensual body, the soft light of the Parisienne moon casting its spell over her, her memories go back to that afternoon recalling his incredibly handsome features, remembering the scent of his fresh cologne as he stood looking down into her eyes and wonders dreamily to herself.....is this the beginning.....the beginning of "An Intriguing Romance".....~ Best seen in Full View Stocks: Moonlit sky and bath bubbles made by me.
