Artist's Comments

~...This had been her fifth year without her skin. She had been inquisitive as all selkie's are, and ventured out of her skin to walk amongst the humans thinking to herself it would only be a few hours and then she would go back to her kin with the next tide. But she had not hidden her skin well enough and when she had returned to where she had left it, it was gone.

She had sat on the mossy rocks mourning the loss of her skin when the Lord of the Manor, out for a walk, had happened upon her. She couldn't tell him the real reason why she was crying so had told him she was mourning the loss of her family to the ocean. The plight of this wet bedraggled vision of beauty had tugged at his heartstrings. He had taken pity on her offering to take her into his home and treated her as one of his own kin, for this poor child must surely have the love of a family around her. She had the best of life as a human, living with her new found family. Beautiful clothes, private tutoring and with this tutoring, she had come to learn the violin, an instrument of man that she found with it, she could emulate the beautiful sounds of the selkie. Each evening she would go out on the balcony and play her violin, calling to her kin in the only place she knew as home. The sea would respond to her with its powerful waves giving her strength and hope but it would never wash over her in its force, it will not take her back until she finds her skin.
Her sad mournful laments would be heard by her true family, beckoning them to be near her for until she was able to be with them in her true skin once again all she could do is wait and hope that one day she would return to her rightful home....the sea...~

:wow:Truly stunning Eni.Beautiful, powerful and emotional.Unique concept and wonderfully told story brought to life so visually powerful with epic setting, wonderful composition, and dramatic palette and lighting. You can truly sense her emotional plight as the waves rise powerfully to embrace her once again,to take her home, yet she knows that she is trapped and yet again she will slip through the waters embrace and be left stranded and alone yet again.Visually stunning and emotionally powerful storytelling once again my friend.A masterpiece :+favlove:

This is an awesome piece!

As a violinist myself, I would not like to have my violin this close to such raging water. However, she is a fine, brave lass. I'm sure she has thought of how she can take the violin with her when she returns to life in the sea.

Looks like the seal is going to cop it, hmmm it'll become a seal zombie. Mm hmm.

Lol no-one is going to cop it...read the story ya dingleberry.....:P

Smiles....thank you so much for the lovely comment once again Shaun. As you well know this piece started off totally different but you encouraged me to stick with it albeit it not in its original form. Im glad you did and Im glad that i perservered with it. Im really happy with the outcome of this final piece and the whole feel to this image and story. Ive always loved the tales of the selkie and once I got rid of the dragons out of my minds eye and the work, the whole concept of this piece just seemed to fall into place. Hugsssss thank you once again for your support my friend
