~...This had been her fifth year without her skin. She had been inquisitive as all selkie's are, and ventured out of her skin to walk amongst the humans thinking to herself it would only be a few hours and then she would go back to her kin with the next tide. But she had not hidden her skin well enough and when she had returned to where she had left it, it was gone.
She had sat on the mossy rocks mourning the loss of her skin when the Lord of the Manor, out for a walk, had happened upon her. She couldn't tell him the real reason why she was crying so had told him she was mourning the loss of her family to the ocean. The plight of this wet bedraggled vision of beauty had tugged at his heartstrings. He had taken pity on her offering to take her into his home and treated her as one of his own kin, for this poor child must surely have the love of a family around her. She had the best of life as a human, living with her new found family. Beautiful clothes, private tutoring and with this tutoring, she had come to learn the violin, an instrument of man that she found with it, she could emulate the beautiful sounds of the selkie. Each evening she would go out on the balcony and play her violin, calling to her kin in the only place she knew as home. The sea would respond to her with its powerful waves giving her strength and hope but it would never wash over her in its force, it will not take her back until she finds her skin. Her sad mournful laments would be heard by her true family, beckoning them to be near her for until she was able to be with them in her true skin once again all she could do is wait and hope that one day she would return to her rightful home....the sea...~ The Selkie according to Wikipedia [link] I dedicate this piece to the sweet Stock: Sky is from ASW [link] who so kindly allow me use of their photographs in my manipulations. very sad story, but you executed the concept in manipulation perfect, because the atmosphere of this work is exactly like it must be according to the story, strongly emotional.
the way home is lost, but her faith is very strong and unshakable. but time is gone and the hope to return begin to seem more and more transparent. and some day when her belief is on the edge of consciousness and despair, she will see familiar reflexion of light somewhere there, in the sea. and it will be rescue and behind there will be nothing.
very inspiring work
lights and shadows, blending and mood are brilliant! the whole work looks like a photo, but the difference is in mysterious feelings of the work.

Im really glad you like it and I love your description in how you see this piece. Yes its very emotional yet full of hope. The oceans are rough as they always are when she calls to her kin and they respond giving her strength to keep hoping yet they will never take her away until she has found her selkie skin again. Her kin come to visit her every evening as she laments her foolishness for not hiding her skin with more care. They are always near reaffirming their love for her, hoping and wishing as she does that soon she may go home again.
